Throughout my degree I have worked on a number of different collections, inspired by many different landscapes and places, all with a strong emphasis on colour and texture. I have looked at the Norfolk and Suffolk coast line, exploring the different natural and man made textures that can be found there, using different weights of yarn and machines to create a collection inspired by it.

My current third year project is inspired by somewhere a little further a field, a favourite holiday during which I travelled to Venice. I was inspired by the architecture of Venice, both the old and the modern buildings, the colourful streets and the beautiful patterns which I saw in St. Mark's Basilica. I chose to focus specifically on the gothic byzantine structures to inspire my first set of samples, using a mixture of machine knitting and hand and machine embroidery to capture the elegance of the buildings.

I always try to look for unusual patterns and textures that may otherwise be missed, mostly in architecture and structures that I find interesting or inspiring and then try to replicate that in my own designs.
